One of the rarest large mammals in Africa, the Mountain Bongo survives today only in fragmented pockets of Kenya's highland forest, its rust-red coat and ivory stripes rendered here beneath a blossoming tree, in the spirit of classical East Asian brushwork.

Part of RSCF's Ukiyo-e Series, each design supports the Rare Species Conservatory Foundation's work protecting species on the edge of extinction, including RSCF's own Mountain Bongo Repatriation Project, which has returned 35 bongo to Kenya since 2004.
